So true, another example of misleading stats; when I worked in Russia and Ukraine in the 90’s hospital funding was determined by number of beds. Most hospitals had at least one room stacked to the gunnels with broken beds they counted in the funding equation.
That's my youth! The official propaganda (later dubbed "success propaganda") was using rather bizarre statistics to persuade us, that despite our subjective feelings, in fact our living standards are higher than in the West. Because we make more sulfuric acid per capita (sic!) and - yes - we have more hospital beds per capita.
True, but the YT channel is outsourced (or so I'm told) - there's a huge gap between the actual newspaper and the horrible content carrying their brand on YT
One problem - which isn't appreciated enough in the West, I think - is that the post-Soviet problems don't plague Russia only, they also - although to a lesser degree - plague Ukraine. This article from Ukrainian Prava about Pokrovsk explains what I mean: https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/articles/2024/09/17/7475408/
Of course, the fact that such articles can appear in the Ukrainian press, but will never appear in the Russian press, says a lot about the difference between the two countries.

It's actually 2137 red lines, not 2149. I counted them myself.
Also there's a 'furry' instead of 'fury' in one of the captions.
Thanks but I think I'll keep it that way

The Hindustan Times thing is super weird. They seem to come up a lot on YouTube. Are they legit media? I just assumed they were RT but in India.
A friend of mine explained to me that their YT channel is robo-generated from Sputnik (it's not just HT, it's typical there).
The Hindustan Times is one of the largest circulating newspapers in India.
Indians are often russofiles. Probably a reaction to having been colonised by the British.

True, the newspaper's coverage of the war in Ukraine is more balanced.
This story https://www.reuters.com/world/ammunition-india-enters-ukraine-raising-russian-ire-2024-09-19/ make me think that perhaps India isn't as much pro-Russia as it is anti-Western. They'll happily profit from the war in Europe without taking a side.
